Without going into the ovious reasons (obvious to all indutrsy professionals) that anonymity is necessary, HUD-RESPA does honor requests for confidentiality. It is okay to give them your name and number, but please also remember to request in BIG BOLD type the need for anonymity. The reason for giving your name and number is that they may need additional info that you may not be aware was helpful.
