If you've decided being an owner in an affiliated title insurance agency is a bad idea, get out of it. Ask the other partners or owners if they can buy your interest. If they can't or won't, then decide whether you can simply walk away from the investment. If so, you can surrender your ownership back to the partnership, LLC, or corporation. Get some advice from your accountant.

There are some affiliated title agencies that give good value to the consumer and actually are RESPA compliant, but they are rare.
