What is your opinion of this?
I don't like off-shore outsourcing of USA title insurance or mortgage lending for a few different reasons. The companies like First American who off-shore outsource these types of operations are doing so under a general plan of "faster cheaper better" which tends to degrade standards and therefore quality of product and service. In addition, there is a security risk in my opinion with the processing and compilation of private data off shore and I am not certain how privacy laws are enforced in these circumstances.
You do not need to worry about outsourcing to offshore company if you find the best of both worlds (Offshore/Onshore) solution. Some work done offshore and some here at home. If data entry / order entry is done offshore and the title work is done onshore – you get Best Shore BPO! I also disagree with you on “degrade standards”. Some US based Title Company I know produces low quality product and service. Most of title people here at home do such bad job that their executives have to outsource. At least they do not have to pay top dollar here for the low quality of work. That is why many companies go offshore to get a cheaper labor. I believe in balance (offshore/onshore) of Best Shore!
